A 29-year-old man has succumbed to injuries after being shot down at Ng’aratuko location, Baringo North sub-county Tuesday as he grazed his cattle in an open field.

While confirming the incident, Baringo county police commander Julius Kiragu told KNA that the man was out grazing his cattle, Tuesday morning when he was shot in the stomach by unknown persons.

The man identified as Silas Chelimo was then rushed to Marigat sub-county hospital for treatment but later succumbed to injuries.

“We received reports that the deceased was grazing his cattle when he was shot in the stomach but no cattle were stolen and investigations are ongoing,” Kiragu said.

The area that has in the recent past experienced insecurity incidences has left residents living in fear of another attack.

Richard Chepchomei, a resident, told journalists that it was unfortunate that the deceased lost his life while fending for his family and called on the government to beef up security in the volatile region.
