Nyeri County  fetes 2024 KYISA teams

Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga has recognized the performance registred by the County  teams that participated at this year’s Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA)  games held in Malindi, Kilifi County.

Speaking while feting the teams Mutahi remarked:  ‘’I wish to congratulate the teams for representing and raising the Nyeri County flag high. Two out of the four Nyeri County teams took home cash Sh100,000 and medals’’.

Nyeri County’s women’s football team finished second at the games and was awarded Ksh.75,000 whiel the women’s volleyball team was ranked fourth and received Ksh.25,000.

Out of the 57 member team a total of 17 players were scoured and have been invited to a national training camp in August organized by  the Kenya Academy of Sports.

‘’I wish to appreciate the players for the discipline demonstrated during the one-week event in Kilifi County which led to the teams posting encouraging results,’’ said Kahiga.

The governor encouraged the coaches and other back room staff that spearheaded the County’s teams at the County Games,

The governor used the opportunity to reveal plans to revamp the Governor’s Cup tournament that will see talents that shine at the grassroots tapped and handed a springboard.

Gender & Sports CECM Esther Ndung’u, challenged the teams and coaches a like to keep up training and target to dislodge the champions at next year’s games.
