NSL: Kajiado silence Rainbow as Mathare show grit to pip Gusii FC

Kajiado FC beat Rainbow 2-0 in their National Super League match played at Ildamat stadium, Kajiado County.

Kajiado took an early lead  through Abubakar Wangai. Rainbow’s efforts to come back into the match were thwarted by the outstanding Kajiado Fc custodian Daniel Wamalwa.

Kajiado extended the lead minutes before half time when James Mutuku’s strike put them 2-0.

Rainbow came back in the second half fighting as Mustapha Dulmant  inswinging shot hit the post, hosts Kajiado held on to claim their fifth win of the season which moves them to the second position on the standings ,a point behind leaders Mathare United.

Elsewhere Mulembe United  secured a crucial  2-1 win over promotional hopefuls  Mara Sugar. Both teams went into the break tied 1-1.

Mara Sugar  ha taken the lead through Brian Ochieng’s 27th minute strike while Mara leveled through  Eric Opiyo’s penalty.

Mulembe grabbed the win after Godrick Kaduma slotted home.

Leaders Mathare United consolidated their top position after beating hosts Gusii FC 2-1 at Cardinal Otunga High School Grounds,Kisii.

The hosts went ahead in the 29th minute through a Onsongo Kevin strike.

Mathare replied in the 52nd and 59th minute through Elle Asieche and  Tonny Odhiambo.

In other results, Naivas and Darajani Gogo played to a 0-0 draw. Mombasa Elite and Mombasa Stars also battled to a 0-0 draw.
