NPS suspends traffic officer for allegedly collecting bribe

The National Police Service (NPS) has positively identified the Traffic Police Officer seen in a video clip circulating on social media, while allegedly collecting bribes from public service vehicles.

According to a statement on X, NPS said it has suspended officer, No. 63151 PC Haron Mwangi who is attached to Traffic within Buruburu Police Station from Traffic Police Unit with immediate effect.

The proceedings for Mwangi´s dismissal are ongoing.

“The Officer, No. 63151 PC Haron Mwangi, attached to Traffic within Buruburu Police Station has been suspended from Traffic Police Unit with immediate effect, and proceedings for his dismissal are ongoing.” Read the statement.

The National Police Service has commended members of public and Members of the Press for their continued collaboration with NPS in the fight against corruption.
