Boma Yangu Housing project

Boma Yangu, the affordable housing platform will undergo a migration to enhance service delivery, government has announced.

The migration exercise will commence on Friday, 17th March 2023 at 6 pm and end on Monday, 20th March at 6 am. 

According to a statement from the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development the platform will be interlinked Boma Yangu with the Government’s digital platform eCitizen and the ministry´s services, going forward, will be accessed through the eCitizen platform. 

“We are delighted to announce that we are upgrading the Affordable Housing Boma Yangu platform to enhance service delivery.” The statement read.

Boma Yangu is a government initiative that offers affordable housing services to low and middle-income households.

The ministry says during the migration, the services on the platform shall be temporarily unavailable and inaccessible. 

While apologising for the inconvenience caused the ministry assured the public that the team is working round the clock to ensure the transition is seamless. 

The new and improved system is designed to offer enhanced performance and reliability as well as a better user experience. 


The optimized platform will include a range of new and exciting features and additional services that will make it easier for you to access information and interact with the Affordable Housing Program. 

It will have convenient access to the web portal through eCitizen, access to USSD for people with feature phones or with no internet, updated projects showing the latest Affordable Housing projects.

Similarly, there will be a quick process to make savings and payments on the platform, and the addition of card payments.

Additionally improved visibility of transactions on the portal with real-time statements for all platform users as well as better settlement of funds and reducing reconciliation challenges.

The system will have organised groups module serving bulk off-takers on the platform and improved user experience across the platform and better reliability and performance.

“We have reviewed the Boma Yangu Terms and Conditions to align with respective changes to the laws of the Republic of Kenya and to reflect the evolution and enhanced services we will be offering to the users of our platform.” Read the statement. 

The statement  says the new Boma Yangu Terms and Conditions are available for review on the website at www.bomayangu.go.ke under the “Terms and Conditions” section and will apply ten (10) days from the date of this notice.
