A man has been arraigned in a Loitoktok Law Court for defiling his three-year-old granddaughter.
George Kuria Njoroge who appeared before Principal Magistrate Judicastor Nthuku Thursday was charged with the offence which he allegedly committed on 24th December 2022 at Kangundo village in Loitoktok Sub County.
The grandmother of the child, Naomi Wairimu told the court that on the material day, she went to the market and left the girl behind with the grandfather.
Unfortunately, it rained and she got home late at around 7 pm to find her granddaughter sleeping on the couch and took her to bed. The following day she noticed the girl seemed unhealthy and she could hardly eat.
She enquired to know what was wrong and the girl revealed that the accused had touched her private parts and she was having difficulties going for a short call.
Wairimu was shocked and confronted the accused which led to drama as he became violent, brandishing a machete and undressing.
Soon after this, she reported the matter at Kangundo Police Station before taking the child to a nearby health centre for medical examination where the medic confirmed that her private parts were badly damaged.
The accused was later arrested and escorted to the police station where he was charged with the offence before he was arraigned in court where he denied the allegations.
The case was adjourned for further hearing on 27th March 2023.
