Speaker Amason Kingi has effected changes made by the Azimio
la Umoja One Kenya Coalition in its Senate leadership.
Speaker Kingi announced the changes Thursday after a decision by Azimio la Umoja to institute changes to the Minority leadership last month bringing an end to the paralysis of State business.
In the new changes, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina replaced Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo as the Minority Whip.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will now be the Deputy Senate Minority Whip taking over from Senator Ole Kina.
Odinga’s coalition retained Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo and his Kitui counterpart Enock Wambua as Minority Leader and Deputy Minority Leader respectively.
“It is therefore my finding and I so rule, that the letter sent to me by the Senate Minority Leader met the requirements of the Standing Orders as stipulated in Standing Order No. 23,” the Speaker in a communication to Senators on Thursday.
“Sen. Fatuma Adan Dullo, CBS, MP has been validly removed as the Senate Minority Whip; Sen. Ledama Olekina, MP has been validly elected as the Senate Minority Whip and is now the Senate Minority Whip; and Sen. Edwin Watenya Sifuna, MP, has been validly elected as the Deputy Senate Minority Whip and is now the Deputy Senate Minority Whip,” Speaker Kingi said.
