Joy for a Nakuru family who got premature quintuplets on Wednesday ended tragically after a sudden death of all the babies.
The couple, Simon Ndung'u 28 and his wife Margaret Wairimu 25 lost all the five babies hours apart today at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital.
The babies were delivered through a caesarean section at the 25th week of pregnancy after it was established that the mother's life was at risk.
A dark cloud on the well-being of the infants surrounded the matter as unconfirmed reports on their deaths flooded social media as early as 9am on Thursday.
This however did not stop well-wishers from camping outside the hospital with gifts ready to reward the young couple and support them in providing for their basic needs.
Speaking outside Margaret Kenyatta Mother Baby Unit where the delivery was done, Ndung'u's sister Ms Monicah Kinyanjui confirmed the deaths saying that the young family was hit hard by the sudden demise of the babies.
Ms Kinyanjui together with friends arrived at the hospital early Thursday but were not allowed inside the facility until hours later when the hospital informed them of the tragic news.
Nakuru Woman Representative Liza Chelule through her representative Rahab Wairimu expressed condolences to the family.
“The office of the MP has committed to stand with this family despite them losing all the children. They still have another four-year-old. We shall look for ways in which we can support them,” Chelule said
