CJ Martha Koome meets with Danish Ambassador Ole Thonke and the Ambassador of Sweden Caroline Vicini; says Judiciary is keen on embracing green justice especially green energy initiatives and being a regional leader in green jurisprudence.


Chief Justice of Kenya Martha Koome has disclosed plans to establish 100 Small Claims Courts in urban areas and border towns in the next five years.

Koome during a courtesy call paid to her by the Danish Ambassador Ole Thonke and Ambassador of Sweden Caroline Vicini said that the move is aimed at assisting the Judiciary to resolve commercial disputes efficiently.

In addition, they discussed strengthening strategic partnerships undertaken through the International Development Law Organisation.

Further, it was noted that a key priority area of collaboration is the rollout of the SGBV courts across the country with a special focus on establishing trauma-informed courtrooms and training Judicial Officers on SGBV-sensitive handling of cases.

In conclusion, Koome said the Judiciary is keen on embracing green justice especially green energy initiatives and being a regional leader in green jurisprudence.
