The exercise is part of ongoing preparation to ensure seamless transition of learners to Junior Secondary.

The Teachers Service Commission is set to recruit 1,558 teachers in Kakamega County.

TSC Kakamega County Director Margaret Kinyanjui said 1, 449 of the teachers will be posted to Junior Secondary while 109 will go to Primary schools.

The interviews will be conducted in all the 13 Sub Counties on 17th January 2023 from 8.30AM.

This is part of the preparations by the Ministry of Education to ensure seamless to Junior Secondary school for Grade 7 learners later this month.

The government kicked off the process of inspecting schools to ascertain their preparedness to host Junior Secondary school students on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Education will be keen on checking the qualification of teachers, school enrolment, and other facilities before permitting any institution to admit Grade 7 pupils.

Parents have also been cautioned against buying school uniforms and ither requirements of Junior Secondary Scholl until they get communication of approved institutions.

Kakamega County has a total of 16, 567 teachers, 10, 778 in public primary schools and 5, 789 in public secondary schools.
