Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is expected to officiate the funds drive of the late veteran news anchor Catherine Kasavuli Saturday, January 7 at the United Kenya Club from 5PM.
The drive is aimed at raising funds to offset hospital bill estimated at Ksh 4 million.
The late Kasavuli passed away on Thursday night after a long battle with cervical cancer.
A funeral service in her honor will be held on January 12, at Friends International Church along Ngong road in Nairobi.
Thereafter the burial will be held on Saturday January 14, 2023, at her home in Zululu, Vihiga County at Tigoi Primary School.
Until her demise, Kasavuli was a news anchor at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) where she was presenting the Legends Edition that airs every Saturday night on KBC Channel 1.
She previously worked at the public broadcaster as a radio continuity announcer before moving to Kenya Television Network (KTN) where she was amongst the initial set of newscasters at then newly-launched first private TV station in the country.
She later worked with Royal Media Services in 2007 as news anchor at Citizen TV and corporate affairs manager before taking a break from the screens.
The award-winning journalist returned to KBC in 2021 among a group of veteran journalists who made a comeback to the station.
