The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared Tim Kipchumba to vie for the Elgeyo Marakwet Senate By-election.
The by-election seeks to replace Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen who was appointed by President William Ruto as the Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public works, under the Kenya Kwanza government.
Tim Kipchumba will be vying on The Party for Peace & Development, a Kenya Kwanza Affiliate Party, having been cleared amongst the other 4 candidates on a party and independent tickets.
The choice of political party shows the focus on the 2 most critical needs in Elgeyo Market County; peace and development.
Speaking after the clearance, Tim Kipchumba said: “This by-election is an opportunity for Elgeyo Marakwet to see the ethos of our president, where every hustler deserves a fair chance.
We have total faith in the Credibility of IEBC to deliver a fair and credible election, similar to the August 9th Elections.
“On successful election, I will work with my colleagues in senate to streamline the process of nominations, in the elections Act, to ensure that no other young potential leader will be denied an equal chance to lead this nation,” He added.
Tim Kipchumba's senate manifesto focuses on 5 key areas; quality education, transforming farmers
into astute entrepreneurs, creating enabling environment for local job creation and talent export for
young professionals, improving the ease of doing business, and using development to bring peace
to Kerio Valley, that holds huge potential as an agriculture and Tourism Hub.
