The Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted eight candidates for the position of Solicitor General.
A total of 18 individuals had applied for the position that was advertised by PSC on November 1, 2022.
The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at PSC offices at Commission House between December 13th and 14th.
The list of those shortlisted contains two city lawyers who unsuccessfully contested for elective positions in the August 9 polls.
Former Law Society of Kenya Chairperson Nelson Havi is among those angling to replace the outgoing Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto.
Havi vied for Westlands parliamentary seat on UDA party ticket before being floored by the incumbent MP Tim Wanyonyi.
Wanyonyi defended the seat on ODM party ticket after his attempts to become Nairobi County Governor became a cropper.
City lawyer-cum-politician George Kithi is also in the race for the position.
Kithi unsuccessfully contested for Kilifi County Gubernatorial position on Pamoja African Alliance party.
The position was ultimately won by Gideon Mung’aro of ODM.
Other candidates in the list that appears to have considered regional balance and gender parity are Marykaren Kigen Sorobit, Beatrice Adhiambo Akuno, Beatrice Mugeni Meso, Shadrack John Mose, Paul Lilan and Stephen Ochieng Mallowah.
