Newly-appointed Cabinet Secretaries to be sworn into office Thursday

President William Ruto’s new-look Cabinet is set to officially assume office Thursday morning. This is after the National Assembly approved the names of 19 of the 20 nominees named by the head of state to various Ministries.

Only Stella Langat failed to meet the MPs’ suitability test and did not get the green light to assume the Gender Affairs docket.

Following the approval, President William Ruto in a Gazette notice appointed the 19 who underwent vetting by the Committee on Appointments last week.

“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Article 152 (2) of the Constitution, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Kithure Kindiki, Hon. (Prof.)., Roselinda Soipan Tuya, Hon., John Mbadi Ng’ongo, Hon., Justin Bedan Muturi, Hon., Aden Bare Duale, Hon., Alice Wahome, Hon., Julius Migos Ogamba, Davis Chirchir, Rebecca Miano, Hassan Ali Joho, Hon., Alfred Nganga Mutua, Hon. (Dr.), Eric Murithi Muuga, Salim Mvurya Mgala, Hon., Debra Mlongo Barasa, (Dr.), Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, Hon., James Opiyo Wandayi, Hon., Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, (Dr.), Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, Hon,. Andrew Mwihia Karanja, (Dr.), to be Cabinet Secretaries of the Government of the Republic of Kenya,” President Ruto confirmed in the notice Wednesday night.

Two more nominees to Cabinet, whose names were forwarded to the National Assembly late on, await clearance from MPs and are scheduled to face the interviewing panel Friday
