The National Heroes Council will forge collaborations with county governments through the Council of Governors for stronger partnerships with the view to honor and recognize national Heroes and Heroines in their respective regions.
Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet County during an occasion attended by local leaders and residents to present a certificate and medal to the family of the late marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum the Council said that the move will also inspire future generations to strive for greatness.
The Council’s Chief Executive Officer Charles Wambia and Chairman Jimmy Angwenyi also said they are working on collaborations with the Council of governors to be able to honor and recognize heroes and heroines in different parts of the country.
Kelvin Kiptum’s extraordinary talent and dedication in athletics was hailed noting it brought immense pride to the nation.
Elgeyo Marakwet County Governor wisley Rotich council agreed to sign memorandum of understanding to champion for the establishment of a modern monument, naming of parks and roads after national Heroes and Heroines in the county.
