Murkomen to give status of Kenyan roads before senate

Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is set to appear before the Senate today to answer questions on regarding the sector.

The cabinet secretary will appear before the Senate Plenary to answer questions raised by senators on the appraise the country on the status of the country’s roads and infrastructure.

The meeting comes amid proposals by the ministry to raise additional levies to cater for the country’s roads development and maintenance.

according to the ministry, Kenya is currently facing a funding gap of Ksh 78 billion to maintain its 239,122km of road network and this is projected to rise to Ksh 315 billion by FY2028/29.
