Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting of the East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) Chiefs of Defence Forces in Nairobi.

The discussions focused on the deteriorating security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the need for a coordinated regional response.

The session reviewed key recommendations aimed at fostering stability and reaffirmed the commitment of regional leaders to strengthening security cooperation.

The deliberations underscored the crucial role of partnerships in addressing emerging threats and advancing diplomatic efforts for lasting peace in the DRC.

Speaking during the meeting, Mudavadi emphasized the urgency of a unified approach to conflict resolution, reinforcing the need for both diplomatic and operational interventions.

The recommendations from this session will shape future actions in addressing the crisis.

Present at the meeting were Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, EAC Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul, and ministers from EAC and SADC member states.

The discussions set the stage for a joint ministerial session scheduled for March 17 in Harare, where further deliberations on peace and security interventions will take place.

As regional instability continues to impact the DRC and beyond, leaders remain committed to ensuring a structured, strategic, and sustainable approach to conflict resolution in the region.
