MTV Shuga Mashariki is back with exciting opportunities for aspiring filmmakers.
Following the conclusion of auditions in October, the series is now accepting applications from young talents looking to advance their careers in film production.
The application window closes on Tuesday, November 12 at midnight.
This initiative is part of the MTV Shuga Talent Acceleration Program (TAP) which offers hands-on industry experience to young creatives aged 20-25 years.
The program provides training across various fields in the film industry, including directing, cinematography, sound engineering, lighting, make-up, wardrobe, and post-production.
By focusing on practical skills, TAP aims to empower the next generation of African filmmakers with the tools they need to thrive.
The return of MTV Shuga Mashariki to Kenya marks a significant moment, a decade after the series last filmed in the country.
During this time, the acclaimed drama series expanded its reach across Africa, producing localized versions such as Shuga Naija in Nigeria and Shuga Down South in South Africa.
The series has played a pivotal role in sparking critical conversations on important social issues, including safe sex, HIV awareness, STDs, and reproductive health.
Lauded for its impactful storytelling, MTV Shuga has not only entertained audiences but also served as an educational tool for young viewers, contributing to social change across the continent.
