Mombasa DCI arrests key peddler with suspected heroin worth Ksh3.5M

Detectives have arrested a key suspected drug peddler in Mombasa and recovered narcotics suspected to be heroin worth Ksh3.5 million.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) the suspect, Benta Akinyi Ogola, was from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) based in Mombasa jointly with those from the Malindi Anti-Nacortics Unit (ANU).

The officers while acting on intelligence leads intercepted the suspect who was carrying a brown carrier bag with the suspected narcotic drugs.

“A Transnational Organized Crime Cartel has been dealt a blow following the arrest of one of their actors namely Benta Akinyi Ogola and subsequent recovery of narcotic drugs suspected to be heroin with a street value of Ksh3,540,000,” DCI stated.

“The Suspect was apprehended by TOCU detectives based in Mombasa and ANU detectives based at Malindi who while acting on intelligence leads intercepted the suspect who was carrying a brown carrier bag with the suspected narcotic drugs,” DCI added

She will be arraigned in court as the search for other players in the cartel continues.
