Anti-terrorism detectives from Mandera have arrested an assistant chief for his involvement in illegal processing of Kenyan IDs to foreigners.

Yussuf Maalim Issak, the assistant chief for Bula power sub location in Mandera Township was arrested for attempting to get IDs for Isack Mohammed Abdi and Noor Yakub Ali, foreign nationals who are also on the police radar for terrorism.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives, the administrator is suspected to have facilitated the procurement of a registration slip or ID waiting card for the terror suspects who were arrested while planning the abduction of a team of foreign nationals engaged in the construction of a sewer line in Mandera town.

The detectives said security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the residents of Mandera and its environs   remain safe and secure.
