First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, Tuesday visited families affected by floods in Athiriver, Mavoko Constituency, where she donated foodstuffs and personal items at Athi River Primary School.
The First Lady empathised with the families who have lost loved ones and thanked the coordinated efforts to assist over 15,000 Kenyans affected across Machakos County.
Mama Rachel Ruto gave assurances about the Government’s commitment to support all Kenyans affected by the extensive rains and flooding in many areas of the country.
As part of the national strategy to increase food security in households, the First Lady also promised to work with local leaders to empower women economically and support them in growing food for their families.
The First Lady was accompanied by Wavinya Ndeti, Governor of Machakos Count; Patrick Makau, Member of Parliament for Mavoko constituency; leaders, clergy, and County Government officials.
