Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy Eluid Owalo flags off relief food in Siaya County

Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy Eluid Owalo Sunday flagged off the distribution of relief food to the residents of Siaya at Awelo Open Air Grounds in Siaya Town.

Presiding over the launch on behalf of President William Ruto, Owalo said that distribution will focus on the vulnerable and underprivileged who are most affected by the drought situation adding that the government will next year supply farmers with quality seeds and subsidized fertilizer to enable them to boost production.

Owalo further called on Nyanza residents to join the government in ensuring that various initiatives aimed at improving Kenyans’ lives are successfully implemented.

He said that the Ruto-led government was committed to serving all Kenyans equally, irrespective of their voting pattern during the last general elections.




“President Ruto signed an economic charter for this region during the last campaigns and he is committed to implementing it,” said the CS.

Among the projects to be initiated, he said is the exploitation of Yala Swamp to turn it into a food basket and also the establishment of fish processing plants along the lake Victoria beaches.

Owalo during the flag off was flanked by among other leaders; Suba South MP, Caroli Omondi, Former Rarieda MP, Nicholas Gumbo, Former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, Former Governor Jack Ranguma, UDA regional coordinator, Dianga Waore and Siaya County Commissioner, Jim Njoka.
