Lionesses seal final spot to keep Africa sevens title hopes alive

The national women’s sevens rugby team,Lionesses, beat Uganda 19-0 in the semi final of the ongoing Africa Sevens Championship at the University of Accra,Accra,Ghana.

The win sets up Kenya against South Africa in the final scheduled Sunday evening.South Africa beat Madagascar 42-0 in the other semi final.

Enroute to the knock out phase Kenya beat Madagascar 22-17,hammered Mauritius 61-0,saw off hosts Ghana 10-5.At the quarter final stage Kenya beat Ghana 48-0.

With the final appearance Lionesses assured themselves a place at next year’s Challenger series which will see three Africa sides battle for the honors in the global series, a qualification pathway for the World rugby sevens series.
