Kim Kardashian/ Princess Diana

Kim Kardashian placed the winning bid for the Attallah Cross at Sotheby’s London Royal and Noble auction that concluded Wednesday. The bejewelled pendant was worn by Princess Diana on at least one occasion.

The Attallah cross in the fleurée style – distinctive through its flowery design details – is a pendant created in the 1920s by court jewelers Garrard, which Princess Diana was said to have admired. The one documented occurrence of her wearing the cross was in October 1987 at a charity gala in support of Birthright, which works towards the protection of human rights during pregnancy and childbirth.

The cross was owned by the former group chief executive of Asprey & Garrard, the late Naim Attallah.

Kardashian has previously shown interest in historic fashion items, including a Marilyn Monroe dress worn by the reality star at last year’s Met Gala. In May 2022, Kardashian revealed she had lost 16lb to fit into the “iconic” gown, which was on loan to her from the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum.

It was originally worn by Monroe during her famous 1962 performance of Happy Birthday to US president John F Kennedy.
