Former rugby player Dennis Ombachi, better known as the Roaming Chef on social media is thanking Kenyans for their continued support and love after bagging a TikTok award at the inaugural TikTok Top Creator Awards.

Taking to Twitter, Ombachi wrote, "Humbled to have been named Africa’s inaugural Tik Tok #TopCreator2022 and I would love to take this opportunity to thank you all for the love and support you’ve always accorded my journey. THIS IS FOR KENYA."

The Roaming Chef was crowned the best TikTok content creator in Sub-Saharan Africa at the event held at the Mövenpick Hotel and Residences in Nairobi.

Ombachi wasn't the only Kenyan to secure an award, content creator Natasha gwal and Beauty By Nita both won the award for Best TikTok Top creator East Africa.

Speaking about why the awards were important, Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok’s Sub-Saharan Africa Head of Content programming said, "With these inaugural awards, TikTok aims to give creators in Sub-Saharan Africa the recognition they deserve and to encourage them to tell the African story while spreading joy at all times."
