The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its portal for the 2025 university placement.
In a statement Friday, the placement service called on the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates to apply for their preferred courses.
While making the announcement through its portal, KUCCPS also noted that the portal was open for candidates seeking to apply for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Teacher Training College (TTC) programmes.
KUCCPS stated that the application portal would remain open for three weeks, with the application window closing on April 21, 2025.
Once learners access the portal, they will be prompted to enter their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) index number, KCSE year and password.
Students have been advised to use their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number or birth certificate number as their password.
According to KUCCPS, the application portal includes 40 public universities which are eligible for government scholarship and the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
The opening of the portal comes hardly two days after the Court of Appeal temporarily cleared the way for the government to continue implementing the new university model, paving the way for the placement service to open the application portal.
A total of 246,391 students who sat for the 2024 KCSE examination and obtained a mean grade of C+ are eligible to transition to the universities.
KUCCPS was established in 2014 to coordinate the selection of students for enrolment in universities, teacher training colleges, national polytechnics, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutes and other training institutions.
