Kimtai lauds impact of community-led monitoring in healthcare reforms

Medical Services PS Harry Kimtai has underscored the critical role played by communities and community organizations in transforming Kenya’s healthcare system

Speaking on Tuesday during a community-led monitoring debriefing breakfast meeting today, the PS emphasized that community-led monitoring (CLM) focuses on accountability and inclusion, drawing lessons from experiences in South Africa and Namibia.

He stressed the importance of community involvement in local healthcare policies, serving as a key driver for Universal Health Coverage, making healthcare more effective and accountable.

He called for swift assessments of ongoing CLM projects, the creation of an oversight committee with diverse representation, and active stakeholder participation to support and shape the future of healthcare in Kenya SAYING “the government is fully committed to this initiative.”
