Kilifi, Chinese Provincial Leaders signs deal to boost trade

Kilifi County government has entered into a partnership with Jiangxi Province and Jiujiang City that will boost trade and create jobs for the locals.

Speaking during the singing of an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) Kilifi County Governor Gideon Mung’aro said the agreement will explore different areas of investment like agriculture, tourism and culture and expand trade within the county.

“Our opportunities are vast and diverse, spanning investments, business support, agriculture, including the import of unique and nutritious products such as baobab fruit byproducts, mangoes, coconut tree byproducts, and more from Kilifi County”, said Mung’aro.

Mung’aro explained the collaboration will help enrich societies represented and boost the county’s blue economy, the mining sector, health department, youth exchange program and innovation and technology.

“In my capacity as the governor of Kilifi County, I wholeheartedly embrace every opportunity that promises growth and prosperity for our people. Together, we can forge a brighter future deeply rooted in friendship, cooperation, and shared aspirations”, he said.

Mung’aro highlighted how the recent launch of the Kenyan Coast Riviera will build on the global awareness of Kilifi as a safari tourism destination further promoting the growth and prosperity of the region.

The Chinese delegation led by the Executive Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province, Ren Zhufeng, and Deputy Mayor of Jiujiang Municipal , Xiong Jinxi, agreed to partner with the devolved unit to explore opportunities of business and peoples empowerment.
