Kenya’s Regina Mulathya clinches silver at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championship in USA

Kenya increased its medal tally to four at the ongoing World Masters Athletics indoor championships in Alachua County, Gainesville Florida.

Regina Mulathya bagged a silver in the long jump W45 category event by leaping 5.24m.  The gold medal went to Melissa Foster from Australia while Olutoyin Augustus of Nigeria won bronze.

Kenya’s quest for more medals continues today.

Daniel Kimeli Tanui will seek to win medals for team Kenya when he takes part in the discuss throw M60 category while the sprint duo of Elizabeth Muthoka and Millicent Ndoro will be battling it out in the 200m, M50 and M35 respectively.

Shot putter Peter Kamau Mwangi  won Kenya’s first gold medal at the games after a throw of 14.79m while  Francis Kipkoech Bowen won gold in the men’s 3,000m as Ibrahim Makonjo Muya clinched silver in the 60m dash.

The World athletics Masters  indoor championship, the 10th edition of the games which comes to a close on Sunday has attracted 4,000 participants drawn from 80 countries.
