Kenyan reappointed to board of global accounting firm

Erastus Kwaka Omolo has been reappointed to the Board of Crowe Global, the world’s 8th largest accounting firm for a period of two years.

Omolo who is a trained accountant with over 40 years of experience will be the sole African serving in the Crowe Global Board until January 2026.

Crowe Global Chairman Jim Powers said Omolo will be instrumental in assisting the firm to wade through challenges the profession is facing.

“The global accountancy profession is being disrupted by increased regulation, rapid technology changes, and a shortage of professionals at all levels of experience. Erastus and the other members of the Board are working with our member firms to assist them to, not only meet these challenges, but find new ways to excel in this dynamic environment,” said Powers.

Crowe Global is a global accounting firm with presence in over 140 countries spanning Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East, North America, Europe and Latin America.

“I will be utilizing this opportunity to communicate with potential foreign investors about the business landscape in Africa and the opportunities it offers,” said Omolo following his reappointment.
He was first appointed to join the firm’s board in October 2021 where he was nominated to join the Governance sub-committee of Crowe Global.

Omolo is currently the Managing Partner at Crowe Erastus & Co Certified Public Accountants which is one of Crowe Global’s independent firms in Kenya.

Crowe Global offers services in the fields of audit, tax, and risk management currently has over 200 independent accounting and advisory firms worldwide.

“We also offer representative roles like payroll outsourcing and fund management on behalf of donors and companies abroad with activities in Kenya and other parts of Africa,” he added.
The company also provides support services, such as advisory to foreign direct investors.

Erastus is a distinguished long serving member of the Public Finance and Tax Sub – Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

Crowe Global has been ranked the eighth largest accounting network in the world with revenues of $4.3 billion. It is also one of only seven global firms in Gartner’s ‘magic quadrant’ for risk consulting services.

There-appointment of Erastus became effective January 1, 2024. This will be the second (and last) term he serves in the Board of Crowe Global in line with the organization’s rules.
