A Kenyan police officer serving in Haiti under the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission has been reported missing.
The disturbing news was conveyed by the National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday morning.
According to NPS, the officer went missing on 25 March 2025 while on duty, following an ambush along the Carrefour Paye-Savien main supply route in the Pont-Sonde area, Artibonite Department.
A search and rescue operation is currently underway to locate the officer.
National Police Service has been notified that a Kenyan police officer serving under the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti is missing. The MSS, in collaboration with the Haitian National Police (HNP), is actively conducting a search and rescue operation to locate the missing officer”, NPS statement reads.
Meanwhile, the NPS has hailed the over 600 police officers deployed to Haiti to combat gang violence and restore stability.
“We commend the National Police officers in Haiti, who remain committed to fulfilling the mandate of the Multinational Security Support Mission”
The latest development comes hot on the heels of the recent death of Constable Samuel Tompoi, who was buried last week.

He was part of a security team that was attacked by gang members on Sunday, February 23.
He sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
