Kenyan music celebrations marks Boomplay’s inaugural Boomfest

Music fans who trooped to the A.S.K Dome in Nairobi on the chilly night of Saturday, 6th April 2024, anticipating a spectacular night of fun and a celebration of Kenyan music, had their expectations met and more as Africa’s premier music streaming platform, Boomplay, successfully held the inaugural edition of its music festival asset for Africa, BoomFest.

Martha Huro, Managing Director, East Africa at Boomplay shared that, “I am elated
we chose Kenya to kick off BoomFest and the success is a testament to the value
Kenyan industry, talents and music wield if united in purpose. It’s been an amazing
experience for fans and music enthusiasts. We extend our sincere gratitude to all our
partners and music industry stakeholders for making BoomFest Kenya 2024 a
success. We look forward to the industry dialogues as an extension of the festival in
Kenya and holding BoomFest in other African countries in the coming months.”

Amidst the fanfare on the night, steered by the pulsating DJ sets and viral dance
routines by revellers to hype from MCs and sponsor activations and fan
engagements, BoomFest 2024 was an electrifying celebration of Kenyan music.

The unforgettable night was graced by 2MCs, 2 DJs and over 13 Kenyan artists who
displayed diverse musical styles and artistry synonymous with the Kenya music
scene.

Femi one, one of the headlining artists shared, “BoomFest is here to celebrate
Kenyan music, give visibility to our own and unite the music industry and its
stakeholders. This is important and is the reason why we have everyone here. It is
always exciting to have the opportunity to share my music and carry the fans along”.

From back to back stellar performances from the likes of Khaligraph Jones, Willy
Paul, Boutross, Femi One, Fathermoh, Wakadinali, Vijana Barubaru and Bahati,
patrons were entertained as they sang their hearts when their favourite songs came
on and they danced in bliss.

DJ Lyta and DJ JR as well regulated the energy in the dome with pulsating sets of popular Kenyan hits and more to the delight of attendees.

MCs Mwalimu Rachel and DJ Xclusive manned the proceedings from start to finish
masterfully complementing the display of great showmanship from other billed
artists including Arrow Bwoy, Ssaru and Buruklyn Boyz as the music wore on into the
night.

It’s worth noting how the surprise elements of the show heightened the euphoria in
the dome.

Legendary Kenyan artist Nameless, was on stage to perform and as a
surprise brought out his wife, Wahu to perform, sending the auditorium into frenzy.

Bahati similarly brought out his wife, Diana to join him on stage.

Gengentone Queen, Ssaru also had Teslah join her as a surprise act while Fathermoh brought out Ndovu Kuu and Lil Maina to delight fans as they raved in celebration, till the end.

The maiden edition of the festival series that was held in Nairobi, Kenya over the
weekend lived to its billing after weeks of generating buzz in the media and among
music enthusiasts.
