Eight-times Kenya Cup Champions KCB RFC is gearing up for a crunch clash against rivals Menengai Oilers Saturday, at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.
With three matches left to play in the regular Kenya Cup season before the playoffs, the bankers are on course to secure a home semi-final.
KCB is second in the standings with 40 points while Kabras tops the log with a superior points difference.
Head Coach Oliver Mang’eni expressed confidence of the team doing well this weekend.
“We’ve put in the hard work, and the team is fully focused on delivering a strong performance. The players are motivated, and we’re ready to take on the challenge ahead. We expect a tough battle so we must be ready in all departments.”
KCB RFC will have to navigate their upcoming fixture without one of their key players, Ian Omoke. Omoke is sidelined due to a tibial fracture injury sustained in January and has undergone surgery.
Other notable absentees include Trevor Odawa, Oscar Simiyu, Nelson Nyandat, Dennis Waithaka and Gabriel Namusasi who are also out with injuries.
Howevere Mangeni will have at his disposal the services of Wilhite Mususi, Nick Okullo, Andy Cole Omollo, Jacob Ojee, Emmanuel Opondo.
Former Oilers players Davies Nyaundi, Erick Miheso, and Tyson Maina are also expected to feature against their former side. The bankers will miss the services of Floyd Wabwire, Samuel Asati, and Vincent Onyala who are away with the national Men’s rugby sevens team Shujaa at the 4th round World Rugby Sevens series in Vancouver,Canada this weekend.
