The national rugby sevens team,Shujaa,began their quest to return to the prestigious World Rugby Sevens IRB circuit by beating Samoa 19-12 in their pool B,promotion play off match at Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain.
Vincent Onyala fired Shujaa into the lead after two minutes with Antony Mboya missing the conversion.
Kenya added two further tries through Patrick Okongo which secured the win against Samoa who had staged a late comeback.
Kenya is set to play Spain tonight at 10.18PM East Africa Time before winding up the pool B matches against Chile on Saturday morning.
A total of eight teams are divided into two pools of four teams each and will face off each other with the top four teams securing their places in the IRB Sevens in 2025
