Kenya beats Germany to rejoin World Sevens Series

The Kenya rugby sevens team,Shujaa beat Germany 33-15 in their promotion play off in Madrid,Spain.The win secured Kenya a place in next season’s HSBC World Sevens series.

Shujaa led 12-10 at half time thanks to tries from Vincent Onyala and Chrisant Ojwang.

John Okoth,George Angeyo and Kevin Wekesa scored a try a piece in the second half to put the match beyond their opponents reach and hand Shujaa the emphatic win.

Despite trailing Shujaa by just two points at the break after Chris Umeh and Niklas Coch had touched down their only second half try came from Maximilan Heid.They couldn’t muster a comeback leaving Kernya to dominate and clinch the slot at next seasons World Rugby Sevens series.

Enroute to their quarter final meeting with Germany Kenya had beaten Samoa 19-12 in their opening pool B match before suffering a 5-10 defeat at the hands of Spain but bounced back to defeat Chile 36-7 setting up Germany duel.

Already qualified for the Olympics Shujaa have completed their  season’s aim by getting back into the series they were relegated from last season.
