The Kenya National Highways Authority has issued guidelines on the speed bumps erected along the Southern Bypass after an accident along the road on Wednesday morning.

Through a statement, Deputy Director of the Corporate Communication Department, Samuel Kumba, offered his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and promised to support them through their grief while also wishing a quick recovery to those injured.

In addition, Kumba encouraged motorists to observe the road signs which start from Southern Bypass Virtual Weighbridge to Langata Interchange.

“Works are only between NHC Overpass and Langata Interchange Ole Sereni Bound lane,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kumba noted that it has been observed that motorists tend to speed along the Nairobi Southern Bypass.

Due to the fact, speed cameras have been installed along the road to monitor traffic

He further encouraged motorists to at all times adhere to set speed limits on this road.

According to KeNHA, the ongoing maintenance works along the Southern Bypass include surface dressing of the road which is critical in sealing cracks that emerge as bitumen ages.

To further slowdown speeding motorists, the contractor has installed temporary umps made of quarry dust to safeguard the completed works.
