KDF hands over Wanini Kireri Level IV hospital to Correctional Department

The Kenya Defence Forces has handed over the Wanini Kireri Magereza hospital to the state department of correctional services following its completion and equipping.

Interior cabinet secretary professor kithure Kindiki received the handover documents for the 150-bed capacity health facility from his defence colleague Aden Duale at the prisons staff and training college in Ruiru.

YuThe facility boasts of two major theatres, an accident and emergency unit, maternity and dental services and a morgue among others.

Duale said the Kenya Defence forces will continue supporting the state department in terms of personnel and training to ensure the health facility maintains the best standards of service delivery.

“This achievement highlights the crucial collaboration between the KDF and the Ministry of Interior, enhancing our capacity to provide essential healthcare and fostering unity in our commitment to serve the nation,” said Duale.

On his part, Interior Cabinet Secretary kithure kindiki lauded KDF`s professionalism and effectiveness in delivering state of the art health facilities when called upon.

“The collaborative arrangement between the NPS and the KDF has enabled the completion of the National Police Service Level 4 Hospital along Mbagathi Way at a cost of Ksh1.2 billion,” he said.

The CS assured of government’s commitment to ensuring that the men and women in uniform as well as their families have access to high quality health care.

“Access to quality health care is part of the appreciation that the Government and the Country owes our security personnel for their sacrificial and patriotic service of protecting our homeland from internal and external threats.”
