Defending Champions Kabras Sugar RFC will put their title defense on line when they face off with five time winners KCB RFC in the final of this year’s Enterprise Cup.
The two sides sailed through after winning their respective semi final encounters held over the weekend. Kabras thumped Nondescripts 54-7 at Kakamega Showgrounds while KCB were 32-18 victors against Kenya Harlequins.
The final is scheduled Saturday at RFUEA Grounds,Nairobi.
At Ruaraka,Quins under the guidance of head coach Paul Murunga, got off the blocks fast scoring two tries in quick succession and a penalty for an early 15-0 lead.
However KCB responded with a try from teenager Michael Wamalwa,Elvis Namusasi successfully converted to halve their opponents lead.
Darwin Mukidza added a second converted try before Eklvis Namusasi penalty at the stroke of halftime gave the Bankers a 17-15 lead at the break.
Substitute Austin Sikutwa’s introduction replacing injured Peter Kilonzo reinvigorated the play touching down twice to help the Curtis Olago Charges record a 290-18 win and reach the final.
Backs Coach Mariko Mshila lauded the performance but quicly said the job is note finished.
“It has been two weeks before we played a match and I could not be prouder of the team for executing our game plan. The boys looked a bit rusty but we will embark on a rigorous training ahead of the showdown. I am optimistic that we will take our sixth title,” said Mshila.
KCB has won Enterprise Cup five times with the first one coming twenty years ago. Subsequent titles have been won in 2007, 2014/15, 2015/16, and 2016/17.
Kabras Sugar made it to their fourth straight final after an emphatic 54-7 win against Nondies in Kakamega. Barry Robinson targeting a fifth appearance in enterprise Cup final inspired the Kakamega based side with a hattrick of tries.
