Douglas Kanja Kirocho has been sworn-in as the 6th Inspector General National Police Service (NPS) following his appointment by President William Ruto.
Kanja’s appoint comes after the National Assembly gave the green light on his approval as the next police boss.
Speaking during the investiture of rank to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja at State House, Nairobi, President William Ruto described Kanja as a seasoned leader, disciplined career police officer and a dedicated Kenyan.
“In Kanja, we have a seasoned leader; a disciplined career police officer and a dedicated Kenyan. I have faith in his capability in providing leadership to the National Police Service.” Said President Ruto.
The President reaffirmed government’s commitment to support security agencies to keep Kenya safe and secure.
“The rule of law is the bedrock of our democracy. We must obey and submit to it for the stability of our country. We will continuing supporting our security agencies to keep Kenya safe and secure.” Ruto said.
IG Kanja took his Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy in a brief ceremony presided over by the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, Martha Koome at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
Kanja is the former DIG Kenya Police Service.
