Controversial second-hand car dealer and online personality, Joseph Kairo Wambui, widely known as Khalif Kairo, has been arrested once again amid fresh fraud allegations.
According to reports and a viral video online, he is accused of accepting full payment for a BMW from a client and failing to deliver the vehicle.
Kairo was apprehended today at the Milimani Law Courts, shortly after authorities mentioned three other ongoing cases in which he faces similar allegations of defrauding clients in his car deals. His arrest marks another chapter in a series of legal challenges that have dogged the dealer since last year.
Kairo was first arrested in December 2024 and detained at Kasarani Police Station in connection with fraud allegations. This initial arrest set the stage for the series of legal troubles that have continued into 2025.
Despite his ongoing woes, Kairo continues to remain upbeat.
“Can’t keep a man who is determined to win down. We will overcome everything,” Kairo said responding to his latest arrest. “Keep praying for me, keep supporting and keep wishing me well. It’s a tough economy that doesn’t favour youth driven enterprise lakini calm seas never make good sailors.”
Kairo has remained a controversial figure online for what Kenyans online have called a “lack of remorse” and unwarranted “delusions of grandeur.”
In his statement today, he called his arrest a “minor setback.”
“Anyway in high spirits, we keep praying, we keep building and we stay winning. Kubounce back is guaranteed and we will do great things that will inspire generations. Hizi ni minor setbacks,” he said.
Kairo is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow as legal proceedings continue.
