Kenyans have been urged to uphold the freedom of judiciary so that the judiciary can be able to perform it’s duties effectively.

Speaking at Meru Law Courts Friday when the Judiciary service commission toured the court, JSC Vice Chairman Macharia Njeru said as a commission they are touring different courts in the country to interact with court officers, Judges, magistrates and other court users to get views on how the commission can assist the courts in delivery of service effectively and transparently.

On the ongoing construction of the court of appeal in Meru town, Macharia said it was very unfortunate that the construction has taken a longer period than it was expected but noted that the Judiciary is working together with the ministry of housing to ensure that the contractor finishes the construction as quickly as possible.

The JSC vice chairman said that the Judiciary is emphasizing alternative dispute resolution as a way of combating the backlog of cases in courts.
