Jordan Schleck and Aleper Mary crowned winners of Loop Safari Gravel race in Vipingo

Jordan Schleck won his second title of the Loops Safari Gravel Cycling series after emerging the winner of the final leg of the series held in Vipingo Ridge,Kilifi County.

Schleck who had won the opening leg in Tatu City won the 120km battle in 4:40:50 hrs.

Joel Kyaviro and Stanley Ngugi claimed second and third positions, clocking 4:57:37hrs and 5:00:55 hrs respectively.

In the women’s category, Aleper Mary who emerged third during the third leg of the series at Hells Gate ,Naivasha posted 6:26:16 hrs to be crowned the winner while Kendra Masige and Monica Jelimo wound up in second and third places with a time of 6:42:00 hrs and 6:46:12 hrs respectively.

The overall series winners received Black Mamba bicycles and also received Ksh. 250,000.Secodn and third place finishers received Ksh.200,000 and Ksh. 150,000 respectively.

“Winning the final leg of the LOOP Safari Gravel Series wasn’t easy, but I was prepared for the challenge. The course at Vipingo Ridge was tough, but I knew what to expect and pushed myself to the limit. The support from fellow riders and the incredible atmosphere made it all worthwhile.”

The 60km category saw Rosemary Wairimu emerging the overall winner with a time of 2:03:47 hrs as  Nicholas Barasa won the men’s  category in  2:03:49 hrs.

Kelvin Kazungu won the 20km race in the men’s category while Kate Crowley was victorious amongst the women’s category.

Over 200 cycling enthusiast took part in the race supported by Loop Digital Financial Services.

The LOOP Safari Gravel Series is organized by AMANI Project and consists of three categories : 20KM for amateurs, 60KM for cycling enthusiasts, and 120KM  for professional cyclists. The series kicked off in TATU City,Kiambu before heading to Iten and Hells Gate for the second and third legs and culminated last weekend in Vipingo.
