Indonesian national arrested as police thwart ivory smuggling attempt at JKIA

An Indonesian national has been arrested over illegal possession of 38.4kg of ivory valued at Ksh10 million.

The suspect, who was aboard flight KQ 571 enroute to Jakarta from Bangui, Central African Republic was apprehended during a passanger screening at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The seized ivory was impounded by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) dealing blow to the illegal ivory trade.

The suspect is in police custody awaiting arraignment in court.
