Ijara MP raises concerns over disappearance of persons in the constituency

Three persons have disappeared in Ijara Constituency raising concerns about the security situation in the area. This is according to the Member of Parliament for Ijara, Abdi Ali.

Delivering a Statement on the Floor of the House, Abdi said on the 15th of September 2023, a constituent Abdi Mohamed Abdi was abducted by unknown persons while herding his cattle in Boni Forest. One week later, another person, Ahmed Abdi Ahmed was abducted from his house in Bula Gora Village in Ijara Ward.

He further told the House that on 23rd September 2023, Abdi Jibril Dagane was also abducted at Bargoan village in the outcast of Bodhai Sub- County while looking after his cattle.

Hon. Abdi said that the three are persons of high stature within the community, and are renowned businessmen.

“Efforts to trace their whereabouts have not borne any fruits and the families believe that the three were abducted by persons alleged to be security agents. I call upon the Government and specifically, the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government and the Inspector General of Police to immediately undertake the necessary investigations and ensure the said persons are located and reunited with their families,” Hon. Abdi said.
