IGAD commits to unified Sudan

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has called for an immediate resolution to the ongoing crisis in Sudan.

Speaking in Djibouti when he met partners and organizations comprising the Good Offices, Mediators, and Champions of Peace initiatives in Sudan IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workhen Gebeyehu committed to a unified Sudan.

“While humanitarian support has been crucial in alleviating the suffering of our brothers and sisters, peace in Sudan remains the sustainable solution.”

He urged all partners to unite their efforts, as a coordinated front will amplify our collective voice and actions to end this conflict.

This meeting follows an initial consultative session for the Sudan Peace Initiatives held earlier this month in Cairo, Egypt.

Participants emphasized the importance of regular consultations to ensure efficient coordination and alignment of efforts in supporting peace initiatives in Sudan.
