Cabinet Secretary Nominee for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritine Affairs Ali Hassan Joho has sighted the blue economy as the countries new economic frontier.

If appointed the new CS for Mining, said he will involve all stake holders in making blue economy a pillar for the country.

Speaking before the National Assembly Appointments Committee which is holding vetting for the 4th day today, Joho said the global demand on sea fairer is approximately 1.9 Million, where Kenya contribute only 2 percent.

He added that if approved he will be working with the August House to realign the training of the youth in tertiary institutions to suit the demand.

In addition, Joho said he will maximize the potential and the enormous capacity of the young people in growing the sector

The former Mombasa County Governor was also put to task by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed over his academic qualifications.

Joho told the panel that he a attained a D- in his secondary education and later turned it around when he found and opportunity.

“Do not ever imagine your hope dies with your previous struggle. I turned it around when I found the slightest opportunity. I did not do well in my secondary, I got a D Minus but I turned it around. I have two degrees and I am on my way to getting a Masters Degree from a prestigious university,” he said.

“ Many cast doubts on the coast people and think we can’t speak English. I drew my inspiration from Prof. Ali Mazrui. He did not succeed in the Cambridge Exam to get to University. I want Kenyans to know that historical troubles are many. No one should imagine that there is a level playing field,” Joho told the Committee.
