The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged the public to be cautious due to the high temperatures expected in January.
The department also said that the high temperatures may result in heat-related stress.
“The high temperatures expected during the month of January in most parts of the country may lead to heat stress and heat-related discomforts such as headaches and fatigue.
“The public is therefore advised to hydrate appropriately and avoid working in the open, especially in the afternoons,” it stated.
As we prepare to hydrate over the next month and avoid working out in the open when the sun is at its peak, here are some other fun ways, you can prepare for the sun.
Sunscreen and moisturiser
Sunscreen is an important product to keep on your beauty stand and in your bag. The best sunscreens are the ones that play the role of moisturiser and sunscreen. Not only do they protect your skin from UV rays but they also keep your face hydrated and dewy, especially in the expected dry heat to come. If your sunscreen is drying, make sure to buy a moisturiser.
A flowy dress
You can’t enjoy the sun without a bright and colourful dress. Okay, that’s an exaggeration but sunny weather is much more fun when a sun dress is involved, especially if it has pockets. You’ll need this dress for breathability and movement, especially, on really hot days.
Wear breathable clothes
These are garments that are made from fabrics that allow air to circulate and keep you cool and dry. These include clothes made from cotton, linen, silk to mention a few.
Sandals
A pair of sandals are a great pairing to go with your sundress. They’ll also allow your feet to breathe through very hot days.
A fancy hat
A hat is a great way to keep the sun rays away from your face but they also serve as a fashionable accessory to have.
Some nice sunglasses
Take a page from Deputy President Kindiki’s page and top off any look with a pair of sunglasses and you’ll look cooler than most even on the hottest days.
Above all else, adhere to the Metrological department’s advice and drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun as much as possible.
