Kilifi Chief Officer for Fisheries and Blue Economy Rahab Karisa is dead.
She was allegedly stabbed to death by her house help in Mnarani, Kilifi County on Thursday morning.
She had returned to the country on Wednesday from a trip to Italy.
According to a private guard, the house help escaped before officers from a private firm arrived for their morning duties.
Police have commenced investigations into the incident.
Elsewhere, Kilifi governor Gideon Mungaro expressed shock at the untimely death of the officer. He described Rahab as a young, talented, hardworking officer and her future was bright.
He called on the police to expedite investigations.
“It is with great shock, disbelief and profound sadness that I announce the untimely death of Rahab Amani Karisa, Chief Officer, and Division of Blue Economy in the Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Blue Economy. Rahab was a young, talented, hardworking officer and her future was bright” he said.
“According to the preliminary police investigation, Rahab was brutally murdered by her househelp. I am calling upon the security agencies to move with speed to arrest the known culprit to face the full force of the law” he appealed.
He said the County Government of Kilifi will work closely with the family to plan for the burial arrangements.
