Kenya Netball Federation ( KNF )’s Chairperson Immaculate Kabutha in conjunction with the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President are set to embark on a program to introduce Para Netball to Persons living with Disabilities ( PWD) in Kenya.

Speaking on Tuesday in Nairobi after the grand meeting with the Deputy President’s spouse Her Excellency Pastor Dr. Dorcas Rigathi EGH, Kabutha also said that the expansive program will extend to young mothers, orphans and  widows within certain institutions as a start up.

” I had an amazing meeting with the second lady. She was very excited to know more about Netball and has pledged her support for our campaign as we now seek to extend our hand to PWD’s , young mothers, orphans and widows,” said Kabutha adding that she will now call her office and embark on plans for the programs.

Kabutha also emphasized that Her Excellency The Second Lady is adamant that young mothers should be given a second opportunity to life and sports in particular Netball offers a pathway to their success and the same should be reflected also to orphans and widows as a gesture for hope, striving for a better tomorrow.

” Netball can be used for many other purposes that include living a healthy physical life with good mental health, to instill discipline to school going children, life skills among many others. It is a game of inclusion and we are glad that now the government has noticed our efforts at KNF,” continued Kabutha.

KNF is currently running the Netball national league as affiliate federation branches are organizing local tournaments from grassroot level, Umpires and coaching training courses that will now serve as an opportunity for all and sundry to participate and engage in the game.

Now even as Kabutha and her charges continue to engage the OSDP office  for resources to kick start the programs, learning institutions will be the main target if the federation will have to achieve it’s intended goal as now  a specific interest has developed to introduce Netball to Persons living With Disabilities.
