Homa Bay steps up surveillance to avert cholera outbreak

Homa Bay County’s health department has heightened surveillance measures to monitor and prevent a potential cholera outbreak.

Health Chief Officer Dr. Kevin Osuri said the department is on high alert and has rolled out proactive strategies to detect and contain any cases that may arise.

He noted that medical staff have undergone comprehensive training to handle cholera cases.

Dr. Osuri assured that healthcare facilities across the county are equipped to manage an influx of patients should an outbreak occur.

The preparedness measures include adequate resources and contingency plans to contain any ailment that may arise to safeguard public health and preventing the spread of cholera within the community.
